ENS treatment prognoses and additional recommendations

Thank you for following our news about the ENS treatment.
We have previously published recommendations that we recommend to adhere to during treatment using a three-component graft with methylcellulose. In addition, we would like to talk in more detail about the stages of treatment using graft and prognosis after treatment.

ENS pathogenesis

Empty nose syndrome is a complex disease, which pathogenesis is associated not only with changes in the architecture of the nasal passages, but also with changes in the receptor status of the nasal mucosa, loss of adequate afferent information from the nasal mucosa to cortico-subcortical structures of the central nervous system (CNS), formation of the systemic response of the CNS to compensate adaptive mechanisms, the formation of a secondary neuroendocrine response and changes in the immune system, the stage of depletion of compensation mechanisms and the formation of pathological reflectory-autonomic nervous system disorders. Taking into account the complexity of this condition, treatment with graft should also be comprehensive and step by step.

The first visit to the clinic

During the first visit to the clinic, the team of doctors performs a diagnostic algorithm for a comprehensive assessment of the patient's initial health condition. Based on this, the question of the reasonability of using a graft at the initial stage is resolved. Patients with ENS often have concomitant inflammatory processes, which are contraindications to the use of grafts. The reason is that the lysis of the graft depends on the presence of inflammation in the nasal cavity, the state of the mucous membrane, the state of the autonomic nervous and immune systems. In other words, infections, inflammation, or other negative factors increase lysis and volume will not be maintained. The doctor recommends the introduction of stem cells at the first visit precisely in order to reduce the inflammatory process, improve the condition of the mucous membrane and prevent resorption of the graft in the future.

The second visit

During the second visit, the doctor evaluates again the condition of the nasal cavity and decides on the use of a graft. If there is a positive tendency after the first stage of treatment with stem cells, then the use of a graft is prescribed. After the graft administration, the doctor discusses the following steps and recommendations with each patient individually and prescribes medicines that need to be taken to improve the result. It is normal that each person's body reacts differently to grafts and medication. If it turns out that any of the medication causes side effects in the patient, the doctor will select another appropriate treatment option individually. It is strictly forbidden to cancel or change the mode of medication administration, as this may affect the treatment negatively. In case of violation of the recommendations, we cannot take responsibility for the result. Therefore, we urge all patients to notify us of any discomfort or other bad reactions after treatment at our clinic.

Additional recommendations

Please note that even if you follow all the recommendations after the first administration of the graft, you should not expect an immediate improvement. The use of a graft involves the administration of several injections over a period of time so that the new tissue has time to adapt and the doctor could adjust the volume step by step. This approach allows you to control the restoration of the correct architecture of the nasal passages and make adjustments during subsequent injections. The graft can not be simultaneously administered in large quantities. The reason is that he process of the graft engraftment occurs from the sides to the middle. This means that if a large dose of graft is administered at one time, the stem cells inside the graft will die and not have time to turn into connective tissue due to their remote location. We would like to emphasize once again that the process of treatment using graft is gradual, it takes time to restore the volume and function of tissues.

Our team is interested in achieving the best treatment results. We remind you that following the doctor's recommendations shortens the path to recovery. A matter of trust to the doctor during treatment plays an important role. Self-medication and violation the recommendations can only harm and delay the desired result. Remember that each patient is equally responsible for their health along with the doctor. We hope for your understanding and cooperation.
